When rumors of the resurrection began to be noised about, what was it like for her who had been his mother, who had nursed him and reared him and known him as a child?
Did those rumors awaken in her memories of more than thirty years past, from a time when the Angel Gabriel had appeared to her to bring her news of his coming birth? And as this news brought her back to memories filled with wonder and anticipation, would she have sat in silence and have allowed an inscrutable smile to make itself felt upon her face still marked by grief?
In a hope like that which had attended his coming nativity, she would receive back her child once more. And in that hope, she would sense some of the yet more remarkable meaning of his return, that her child, her son and her Lord, was now hers forever, and not only hers, but truly and forever the Son of man.
